Tenco Celebrates 50 Years of Innovation and Excellence
This year marks a major milestone for Tenco as the company proudly celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Founded on May 19, 1976, in Saint-Valérien-de-Milton, Québec, Tenco was built on a bold vision shared by Pierre Metras and a group of entrepreneurs determined to develop innovative equipment for a variety of industries. While the company’s early years included multiple types of equipment, Tenco quickly established itself as a leader in snow and ice control solutions, laying the foundation for decades of growth and innovation.
As demand expanded, Tenco grew beyond Canada with the creation of Tenco USA in Lakeville, New York, a facility that remains an important part of the company’s operations today. Over the years, Tenco continued strengthening its North American presence through additional facilities in Calgary, Alberta, and Caledon, Ontario, allowing the company to better support customers across the continent.
Like many companies with a long history, Tenco has experienced both periods of growth and significant challenges. One of the most pivotal moments came in 2011, when the company faced serious financial difficulties. Through the dedication and leadership of key individuals, and with the support of stakeholders and employees, Tenco successfully transitioned into the Alamo Group family. This important step preserved the Tenco name, protected jobs, and positioned the company for long-term success.
Since joining Alamo Group, Tenco has continued to grow while maintaining the engineering expertise, innovation, and identity that have defined the company for decades. Another important milestone followed in 2018 with the acquisition of RPM Tech, further strengthening the organization’s product offering and leadership within the snow and ice control industry.
Innovation has remained at the core of Tenco’s success throughout its history. Industry-leading developments such as the Tenco 12M body, the Wide Wing System, and the Wide Wing Junior continue to demonstrate the company’s commitment to high-performance, practical solutions designed to meet the evolving needs of customers across North America.

Over the past 50 years, generations of employees have contributed their expertise, dedication, and teamwork to help shape the company into what it is today.
